Hi @Grace Tan Chia Me and welcome,

it depends. If the workflow has been defined for just a project (through the workflow scheme associated) the change will impact just a project. If the worflow has been shared across projects, this change will impact all the related projects.

Hope this clarifies,

Fabio

Welcome to the community @Grace Tan Chia Me

Your workflow first needs to be connected to your project with a workflow scheme. Meaning that you make changes to your workflow, it won't make changes to other projects.

Thank you Perisic for prompt response.

The Change Request (CR) workflow is currently connected to project A. The user would like to edit the CR workflow to Defect workflow which also connected to same project. So, if I edit / replaced the CR workflow to Defect workflow,

1. Is changes of the workflow will not impact other projects? Even other projects have same workflow?

2. How do I edit or replace from CR workflow to Defect workflow? Is this means I deleted the old one and copy paste the Defect workflow at CR? Or do i need to do all over again?

Sorry, I'm very new to Jira, grateful for your help. Thanks a lots

No worries, we all had to start from somewhere. If your workflows are shared with multiple projects, then it will have the impact on the other projects as well. Workflows have their workflow schemes, where in these workflow schemes you can add different issue types.

For example

In your workflow schemes, you can add more workflows for each issue type, and this is all tied to a one project.

If you want to replace your CR workflow with Defect workflow, you can simply rename the CR one and change the issue type to Bug (which I assume is tied to your Defect workflow).

Hope this makes it more clear.
