If I close the Epic what will happen to the stories under it?

I have an Epic with multiple stories/tasks, only three are open. What will happen to the open ones if I close the Epic?

Nothing should happen out of the box, unless you have some automation that closes all stories/tasks linked to the epics.

So if the Epic is closed, the stories/issue under it will remain open but will be orphans?

@Zulfiqar Ali Shah Kazmi , if you close the epic, the stories will have the same status and are still linked.
