I would like to create a team that I can assign work to

Hi all. Is it possible to create a team and then assign issues to that team instead of an individual. I have created a team yet when I try to assign an issue to this it only allows me to assign to individuals.

Hi @Intellica Support and welcome to the community!

Team assignment is not a default feature of Jira. (however they are working on something for the future).

The easiest way to resolve your requirement is to add a custom field of type "group picker" and add that to your screens (keep in mind that this field cannot be filtered in).

The annoying part is then that the system field "assignee" will not be filtered based on the team, but at this time it'll be your quickest solution.

Another way would be to just create a single select field and add the teams there statically.

Hi Dirk, Many thanks for you response. 

That is frustrating isn't it. I think I may be best implementing in my team they reference the team in the comments section so that the relevant team members will get a notification to say that a piece of work is located within a swim lane. 

Unless you have a better idea. Ideally if we are moving something into the Dev lane, I want the whole Dev team to know that the issue is with them.
