I would like to clone a board without cloning the issues so we can use it for testing/training

I have created a Test Project and cloned a live board to put into this Test Project so we could create Test Issues for people to be trained on before going to the live board, but it has copied over the live issues so whatever we do in the Test Board will move the issues in the Live Board. Is there an easy way to copy the board setups but not the issues?

We did custom issue setup on the live board so to have to recreate it from scratch for the test board will be quite cumbersome and time-consuming, not to mention frustrating!

Thanks.

Boards are driven by Filters.   If you copied a board, go to the configuration to find the filter being used (right now I think  it will be the same filter on the Production and Test board).

  1. Create a new filter (Test) to pull from your test project
  2. Be sure to give visibility to the new filter with the people who have access to the test project,
  3. Change the Test Board configuration to use the Test Filter

Keep in mind

  • If your test project is going to have sprints, be sure to use sprint names that are different than production
  • You can create as many boards as you want;  (go the list of boards and add a new one).  You will be prompted for the board type (KANBAN or SCRUM)
  • A board can pull issues from any project -- it is driven by it's filter.  Just because you create a board (and technically attach it to) one project), the filter will dictate what the scope of work items (issues) are.

Let me know how it goes.

Hello, Good day. You could copy the existing board : https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/copy-an-existing-board/. This will not clone the issues part of the board. Thanks
