Hello @Chetan Maheshwari

Welcome to the community.

Is this in a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

If it is in a Team Managed project you would

  1. go to Project Settings
  2. Issues types
  3. select the sub-task issue
  4. drag the Story points field from the center pane to the right side pane
  5. save your changes.

If this is for a Company Managed project then the field needs to be removed from the screens used for the Sub-task issue type in that project. This is a bit trickier because the screens can be used by more than one issue type in a project, and can be used by multiple projects.

You have to determine if

  1. The project is the only one using a particular Issue Type Screen Scheme
  2. That Issue Type Screen Scheme is the only one using the Screen Scheme that needs to be changed
  3. The Screen Scheme is not used by other issue types in the project.
  4. The Screens within the Screen Scheme are not used in other Screen Schemes

Go to Project Settings > Summary. You'll get a screen that summarized the various schemes associated with the project. Look in the Screens section and you'll see an Issue Type Screen Scheme with Screen Schemes listed below it. Click on the Issue Type Screen Scheme as the top of the Screens section.

That will take you to a page that shows the Issue Type Screen Scheme and the Screen Schemes it contains. If the Issue Type Screen Scheme is used by multiple projects I believe you will see an indication of that on this screen near the name of the Issue Type Screen Scheme. If it is shared, any changes you make will affect all the projects that use the scheme.

If it is not shared review the Screen Schemes shown on the page. You'll see that Screen Schemes are mapped to Issue Types. Look for the one mapped to the sub-task issue type. If that Screen Scheme is used by other issue types also, then all those issue types would be affected by the removal of the field.

Screen Schemes are comprised of Screens. Screens can also be used in more than one Screen Scheme. So you will have to drill into the Screen Scheme and find out which Screens it includes and whether or not they are used by other Screen Schemes.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill , I am using company managed project which is bit difficult to customize these configs.

Based on your response does it mean I need to create a new screen for Subtask and configure its filed accordingly. could you help me to know exact steps of doing the same ? because as of now I am facing issues to assign a new screen to subtask. it is saying more than 80 issues will be affected + please create a valid issue type of subtask.

Message appearing when i am trying to remove subtask from the schema used for all issue type is

"There are 80 sub-tasks that will be affected by this change. You must have at least one valid sub-task issue type" .
