I want to create another separate Kanban board that is related to an existing project

bparov October 5, 2018

Hi,

I want to create another separate Kanban board that is related to an existing project, but to keep the new tickets separate from existing board.

I created one but it has the same tickets from my prior kanban board. Now, I want to delete it but it has the following message:

"There are several boards attached to the project you want to delete. If you want to keep these boards, you will have to move them to a different location. Otherwise they will be deleted along with the project."

And the tree boards are shown.

I am afraid that if i delete this Kanban board, it will delete the rest of the Boards listed associated with that project.

Please help.

Thanks.

You are mixing up projects with boards.

A project contains a load of issues.  If you delete the project, this will by necessity, delete the issues.

A board is a view of a set of issues, not a container.  You can delete a board and it won't affect the issues or the projects it was showing you.

But going back to the original question

>but to keep the new tickets separate from existing board

To do this, you edit the filters that are selecting the issues.  Make the filters mutually exclusive, and the boards will show separate issue lists.

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist- I want to delete the new board i created without deleting the project. The message is confusing and I am afraid it will delete all prior boards and project associated with the new board i created. Now, I have two identical boards and i can't still keep the new tickets separate. Those new tickets are part of the same project.

I hope that makes sense.

Are you able to show what you mean? Where do you access the filters and selecting the issues?

Thanks.

You can delete boards without touching the project, as I said.

The issues on the copied board are the same underlying issues because the boards are selecting the same set.  To change this, go to board admin and the main general config page where you can see and edit it.
