There are a few user's who have entered the wrong full names & I cannot update them. No one in our company can. The only message is "Full name is set by your Admin" however I am the Org Admin & I still cannot change it.

How do I change it so that Admins can edit this?

Hello @Eoin O_Callaghan

That message usually pops up because the accounts are "Managed" by your organization.

If you're managing them natively in Atlassian, an Org Admin can simply go to admin.atlassian.com > Directory > Users, select the person, and hit Edit details.

However, if you're syncing users from an identity provider like Okta, Azure AD, or Google Workspace via SCIM, the name field will be locked in Atlassian. In this scenario, your IdP is the "source of truth", any change you make in Atlassian would just be overwritten by the next sync anyway. You'll need to update the name in your IdP and let it flow through to Atlassian.

You can check if this is the case under Security > Identity providers.

On the first part, There is no "edit details" option available on any User.

For the second, I haven't clue what "IDP" is.

In Identity Providers there are a 12 boxes with only google workspace available so I don't know what I need to do there?

I can't understand why it is so difficult to change someone's name? Really shows a major fault in this product with very poor customer support.

@Eoin O_Callaghan

Putting that aside, you are likely still new to Atlassian administration. IdPs are a basic part of identity administration, so it is worth getting familiar with that concept first.

In your case, IDP refers to your Identity Provider, which is likely Google Workspace. When you see Google listed under your identity settings, it means Google is the "source of truth" for your user data. This is exactly why the Edit details button is missing Atlassian locks those fields to ensure your directory stays perfectly in sync with Google.

To update a name, you'll need to head into your Google Admin Console, find the user, and change it there. Once you save, Google will push that update to Atlassian automatically.

In other way you need to poke somebody who have connected your Atlassian to IdP also likely Domain Administrator.

It's not hard to change settings, but first you must define from where they coming from.

Ok, Yes I'm new to this whole process.

How do I head into Google Admin Console?

See I'm not 100% someone has connected Atlassian to IDP, there is an error message to verify the domain also not sure if that's a part of it.

Basically we got licensee but no one in Atlassian went through any kind of set-up with our company.
