I need to integrat JIRA with interal project management tool.

Hi , 

I want to integrate my internal project management tool with JIRA. For example, once the idea is approved by the Business in the internal tool, the project has to be created automatically in JIRA, and also once the all the user story is completed and closed the project a notification has to go back to the internal tool. Is any API available for this?

Looking for phase gate integration with an internal project management tool and JIRA.

It's certainly possible, there is comprehensive API documentation for Jira Server here, though you may want to look over the out-of-the-box listener capabilities for Jira and possibly install a third-party plugin to expand on functionality.
