I need to clone a task, there is a way I can choose which subtask I want to be cloned?

I have a task that, due administration purposes, must be manually cloned. This task has several subtasks. What I need is at the moment I clone this task I can choose which subtask I can clone. Because not all the subtaks that are in the tasks are needed.
Is that possible? there is a way I can accomplish this?
Thanks.

Hi @Sofia Grunspan

Natively, using the manual Clone Issue button - this isn't possible - you can select to include all the Sub-tasks, or none of them.

---

If this is an exercise you will need to repeat, you could do something via Automation though. You could use...

  • Trigger: Manual Trigger - to add a new "option" for cloning that can be selected manually
  • Action(s): Clone the Task, along with certain Sub-tasks, based on...
  • Condition(s): Some unique parameter which identifies which Sub-tasks to clone, and which to ignore (eg. a Label - Clone_ST)

---

If this is a one-off exercise, I'd either...

  • Do it manually, if it's a small Task / set of Sub-tasks
  • Export the data to CSV, then reformat the list of Sub-tasks, and import it. See further instructions on how to do this on this help page

---

Let us know what you think!

Hi @Sofia Grunspan,

I am Marlene from codefortynine.

If you need to perform similar actions on a regular basis I can also recommend Deep Clone for Jira.

With our app it is possible to bulk clone tasks along with subtasks and filter the subtasks using JQL as you can see in the screenshot below.
