I can't see the Issue Types in my project settings

I'm a project admin, the project is company-managed and I need to add Epic issue type to my project to activate the Timeline.

If I go the Timeline, it says:

"Your project doesn't have epics configured
In order to use the timeline, an administrator needs configure an epic issue type."
So I want to do just this by adding the Epic issue type to my project. I tried following this page: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-work-management/docs/customize-your-project

But the Issue Type section doesn't appear in my project's settings navigation bar.

How do I solve this.

Hi @Michaël Ménaché , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.

The Issue Type Scheme is a configuration that only a user with Jira product admin permission can access. If you are a project admin, you cannot modify the Issue Type Scheme yourself.

Please contact a Jira admin in your organization and ask them to amend the Issue Type Scheme for your project to include Epics. This should allow you to work with them in the Timeline.

Cheers

Thanks a lot for your quick reply!

I got the project admin role because the board admin role was not enough to make the changes I need and the project and Jra admins are not responsive enough.

=> Is there any way to avoid lengthy back and forth with a Jira Admin (and the intertia that comes  with it)?
e.g.  is it possible to somehow switch the project from company-managed to team managed (i found that to be much more comfortable and efficient in the past)?

Thanks again!

Hi @Michaël Ménaché , thanks for your reply. Unfortunately it is not possible to convert a project from company-managed to team-managed.

What you could suggest is that, the next time you need a project, to create it using the shared configuration for a project that you know has everything you already need. For example, if you had worked already in a project that had Epics and where you could use the Timeline, you could ask when you need a new project, please create it using the same configuration as 'project x' to avoid ending up in this same situation again.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help this time.

Thank you I had the Project admin access, not the Jira admin in your organization.
