The version of your Cloud system is not too easy to find, the best way to do it is a "system information" call made over REST.

But, it changes frequently, and it doesn't really have any use to anyone apart from some awareness of REST API changes and very specific bugs which are not your problem, but Atlassians!

It's pretty much useless to you, which begs the question of why you are asking?

We are trying to validate all the software that we use, to ensure the features we use for development are working as expected. A version number would be useful for documentation purposes so we know which version of the software was validated. thank you for that information

Ah, there's the problem, you're seeing this as software.

So, technically, it is, behind the scenes.  However, that's not how you're using it.  You have bought "Software as a service".

A version number here would be of little use to you, as the service changes, and, in fact, a lot of "features we use for development" you are likely to be worrying about are down to configuration, not the service (software).  For a version number to be of any use here, you would need to be creating a version for every change any of your administrators make, on top of the versions of the underlying software.

And, you should understand that, even if you ignore the configuration element, you would need to be running your validation every 2-6 weeks, as that's the typical Cloud release frequency.  It can go outside that window (I've seen it change 4 times in a week, and other systems not change for almost 3 months), but if you are going to do this validation, you need to be prepared to do it around 15 times a year.

So, in short, I very much doubt the version is of any use to you.

But if you do want to record it for your validations, hit

@Yun BoyerJira Cloud does not have versions like Jira Server has.  Jira Cloud is automatically updated by Atlassian, without explicit versions.
