I am unable to see child issues on my timeline in JIRA

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
I have set up a new software project and have added Epic with stories and tasks. I have also added in child issues under these but for some reason they are not visible on the timeline along with the stories and tasks?
