Hi,
I have an account on JIRA that has 2FA enabled against it. Now when I am trying to login to this account, immediately after entering username/password combination I see an error message on 2FA Screen. Message reads Oops that didn't work. Now on the 2FA screen when I enter the code from google authenticator app, it again shows the same error.
Has anyone faced the same issue recently?
Regards,
Usman
Hi Usman,
I've had similar issues in the past. Usually this happens because there is a difference between the 'username' field given by the 2fa provider in the SAML assertion, and the 'username' field in Jira. These must match exactly. You also may need to tell Jira what variable in the assertion contains the username value. This may be different if you are using the Jira datacenter SAML configuration, or one of the third party add-ons that provide saml.
I'd suggest getting this chrome add-on to inspect the returned assertion from the 2fa provider https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/saml-chrome-panel/paijfdbeoenhembfhkhllainmocckace?hl=en
Hey Josh,
I managed to login to JIRA after a couple of hours. I noticed that my time zone was different than the one I am residing in. Not sure if that caused the issue but after correcting my time zone I managed to login.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for the nice chrome plugin!
Regards,
-Usman
