I am unable to add swim lanes in team managed projects. Why?

I have JIRA admin rights, but when I create a team managed project, go to board configurations, I don't see an option to add swim lanes. Do we know any reason for it?

I guess the best answer is because they have to developed that functionality yet. You can vote for the request and follow it here:
