How to validate custom field [select list] value

I am creating a jira case via REST API.

How should I know the customfield[select list] value that I am insert is a valid value?

And is there anyway to retrieve all the available customefield[select list] option via the RESt API?

How to retrieve available options for a multi-select customfield via Rest Api

Docs says this:

Status 400

Returned if the input is invalid (e.g. missing required fields, invalid field values, and so forth).
Example

}

So you should get Error response if you insert an invalid value
