This function is assumed to link 2 issues, but you see, how can I link this issue to another one? It can only select "Trigger issue" which is the issue itself, very useless; or select "Most recently created issue" which is very vague. Isn't it very useless? How can I don't which one exactly it is?
It's expected we can select another issue, why don't you implement it in this kind of straightforward and easy to understand way?
Hello @flourish_x_yang
As per the documentation:
https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-automation-actions/
...you can also enter an issue key or use a smart value. Just start typing the value into the field.
Can you provide us with screen images showing your entire automation rules? Can you provide more information about what you are trying to accomplish in your rule?
@Trudy Claspill Thanks for replying. Here is the screenshot.
I want to add a task into this rule:
when a issue is created and if it's Epic type, link this issue to another issue.
Maybe the version is old, it can't support this new function? I can't see the function you provided. When I select new action, I can only see the function like the screenshot I provided.

Oh, as inspired by your comment, I input a key link and will try it.
I also tried input an Key ID, but it can't show me a hint that the key is founded, so I am not sure if it works.

@flourish_x_yang you should use issue key, not issue link.
Also, you can add additional action before linking to lookup for required issue and save it key as variable. And use variable to link.

Hello @flourish_x_yang
The first thing to note is that you specified in your project tags that you are using the Jira Cloud product. Based on the icons in your image you are not using the Jira Cloud product. Instead you are using the Jira Server or Jira Data Center product.
Functionality can vary based on the version of the product you are using. Can you please click on the question mark icon (near your avatar in the upper right corner) and select the About Jira option and tell us the version number that shows?
Second, the field will not give you an option when you click the down arrow to select "enter key" or "enter smart value". You just type those into the field
Lastly, as @Evgenii said, if you want to link to a specific issue type in just the key, for example ABC-1234.
