How to test a copied workflow after including a new transition with in the same status!?

 I am trying to find out a way how do you run copied workflow and screens to test your new transition created [screen and fields also involved]

Welcome to Atlassian Community.

The way I do it is to either stand up a new project what is associated with the new schemes, and once everything works are expected switch projects over to use the new schemes. You can also use a test environment that has the same data as production by doing an XML backup and restore. You can then do all your changes in the test environment. The only drawback is that you would have to redo the changes in your production environment. I do believe there is an app in the Marketplace that allows you to copy configuration changes over from Test to Production.
