How to store change history for Scripted Fields

With a normal number field, every time a user changes the value, the History section gets updated (field, who, date, old value, new value).

With calculated fields using Scriptrunner, this is not the case, and as a result i can't see the history of the calculated value. Is there an API call to log a change in a calculated field in the History log?

No, because scripted fields are display-only, there's no persistent data for them.  There's nothing to hang a history on to.
