Hi,
Currently we use in Jira stories linked to epics. This cause that in backlog/kanban I can see coloured label at each ticked related to epic name.
But we are running SAFe now, then we have to link stories to features/enablers, so we are going to stop to use epics on this level. This cause that we will loose Jira functionality of "coloured boxes" which help us to navigate over backlog looking for stories related to the same group.
I can use labels to group issues, I already know how to enable shoving them them on tickets (there are many questions about this over forum). Problem is that labels are shown like standard text, is it possible to thow labels on tickets like coloured boxes (so like epics previously)? It would be really helpful.
Hi @Łukasz Referda and welcome to the community,
No, unfortunately you can't change colors on labels. There is a suggestion for server here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-19551 and for cloud there is this suggestion https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-12365 and it's currently being considered for implementation.
If you are on cloud you could use an app like this https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228720?tab=overview&hosting=cloud
Let me know if the above helps.
Hi Alex,
Looking at those tickets of requests for new functionality it seems that it won't be added soon... People ask for this for many years.
From the other hand I confirmed with my colleague that we use Jira Server, so Avesome Custom Field add-on won't work. Have you maybe got some similar solution but for Server version?

Hi @Łukasz Referda ,
Short answer you can't get the coloured boxes as you can with the epics. You can however make the labels available on the backlog and the board. By going to Board settings > Card layout > And adding 'labels' as field name in both the backlog and board. Don't forget to use the Add button.
The drawback is that any label will be visible.
Kind regards,
Rudy

Hi Rudy,
Thanks, I already use labels which you are talking about, but they are just text labels so it is hard to distinguish groups of tickets... But bad news are also good answer making me sure that it is impossible ;)
