How to setup security scheme to allow assignees of subtasks to view parent task

Logan Reichert
February 27, 2026

I have a security level scheme that only allows people of a certain role to view specific tickets, However there is a need for sub-tasks delegated to assignees that are not of the same role. Is it possible to setup/make a addition to the scheme to allow "Sub-task Assignees" permission to view the parent task?

Would it be possible to use custom user fields to accomplish this? It'd be the same users delegated, but they only need to see ticket's that they have to do something in.

Hello @Logan Reichert

There is not a direct method in Security Scheme levels to reference people in another item.

Your options for setting access though a security level are:

You could, theoretically, add a User custom field to your parent items and use Automation Rules to automatically synch it to list the Assignees of the sub-tasks. Then add the User custom field to the security level.
