Hi All
I am quite new to the Jira testing tool so need to some help.
I have about 75+ applications that require to be tested each month with monthly Office updates. The test users have set up the test steps for each application and carry out the tests when they update the Office build each month.
I give the test users a couple of weeks to carry out the tests and for them to update Tracker. It seems quite easy but there are always some users who forget to do the testing! With those users I have to go through the list, pick out the tests which have not yet been carried out and then send an email to those users by copy and pasting their emails from an Excel sheet.
Is there a way I can automate sending reminders to the users who have yet to complete the testing from within Jira? I normally send out 3 or 4 reminders during a two week period. Would it be possible to set 3 or 4 dates, Jira to identify what tests have not been carried out and send a reminder?
It would save me so much time if this was possible. FIngers crossed there is an option.
Thanks in advance
Br
Dan
Hi @Dan Smith,
Welcome to the Community!
Can you provide a bit more information about the tests themselves, are they stored in Jira as an issue? Are they linked in some way to a Jira issue that is assigned to the tester?
The first thing that came to mind for me was for you to create a new Jira filter (query) that will display a list of issues that you need to send reminders out for. Once you have a the list you can save the filter and then in the details link next to the name of the new filter you can setup a subscription.
From here you can define the group you would like to send that list to as well as how often you would like to send it to them:
I'm not sure if that might suit your needs or not, but I hope it helps put you on the right track.

Hi Dan,
Not a problem. Ok here we go:
You are going to start by select the Issues menu and selecting the "Search for issues" option
Next you will probably be taken to the basic search editor that looks like this:
I personally click on the "Advanced" link to use the advanced search as there is more you can do with it:
Once you search for some issues and click the "Save as" button. It will prompt you to provide a name:
Once you have saved the filter you should see the details link near the top middle of the page link in my first screen shot.
I hope that helps!

Thanks James. I had a quick look and I think I can see what to do now. I need to sign off as its 9pm here where I am! I'll let you know how it goes when I continue to look at this tomorrow.
Have a nice rest of the day wherever you are!
Cheers

Hi! If you are using an issue type 'Test' then you can create a filter subscription where if the tests haven't been updated for a certain amount of time it will show on the filter, and send a notification to the group of testers, if you have a lot of testers I suggest applying also the assignee=currentUser(), so they receive just the information about their tests, hope this helps :)

Hi
Thanks for the quick response. However as I am new I'm not quite sure how to do create a filter subscription. The issue type is "Test". How do I apply the assignee=currentUser ()?
I am a noob with this tool :)
