How to restrict view issue permission based on the issue's status?

Hi, 

we would like to work with external developers and therefore restrict access as mush as we can. How can I limit the viewing of issues to exclude all issues that are in a particular status ('Backlog' in our case)?

You could use Workflow properties to remove the "browse" permission for the issue.

It's going to do horrid things to your reports and usage though.
