Hi,
My problem statement is that when I move a story to a column in Jira, I can see two sections - one section is created by the workflow (the one with the tick) and another section is from the generic status (the one with the x). Refer to the screenshot.
I would like to know how can I remove the generic/standard status in the column?
Thanks in advance
Hello @Edwin Lee
The statuses that appear as sections in a column are statuses that are available in the workflow.
To remove the section from the display, you have to remove that status from the workflow.
I'd have to do an experiment to confirm, but it could be that you are seeing a status that applies to a workflow for another issue type in the project.
Hi @Trudy Claspill ,
Thank you for the suggestion. If I get what you were suggesting, when I remove the status, the column will not appear up on the board. I tried it. Refer to the screenshot.
Can you please calibrate further what you meant by the 'status that applies to a workflow for another issue type'? I didn't see any details on specifying workflow for a specific issue type. Perhaps I might have missed it.

Hello @Edwin Lee
This is a bit confusing. Because two sections showed in the column when you drag an issue to it, I assumed that there would be two statuses mapped to that column. Was there actually only one status mapped to that column?
I was not suggesting removing a status from the column. I was suggesting removing the unwanted status from the workflow(s) that are used by the project. That assumes that you actually don't want that unwanted status to be used by any of the issues in this project.
Can you provide images of the diagrams for all the workflows that apply to the issues in this project?
