How to reload jira software after windows 10 pro installed

Andrew Chung July 4, 2019

I changed from windows 7 pro to windows 10 pro. I have a jira subscription until march of next yr. How to do I reload the software on the new windows operating system and have jira recognize my current subscription?

Hi Andrew,

If you launching jira from the .bat file manually (i.e. you did not install as a service) and you don't touch the filesystem at all for where Jira home and jira install are located (i.e. Windows on C:/ jira on D:/) you should be OK only needing to verify/remap your java home and configure ports (covered in Step 3 - 5 under the manual install steps here)

BUT if you have installed jira as a windows service  a lot will go wrong here if you upgrade the OS so in this scenario just to make sure everything comes across without any conflicts and keep it as simple as possible I would say to just to do a clean install after the OS upgrade and migrate the data over like you would for a server to server migration covered in this KB article:

Thanks, Earl

I will give it a try. I already upgraded to windows 10 pro but have the old windows.old directory.

I did have another idea I wanted to ask about. I dont care about the data on the old install. I am wanting to start from scratch again. I downloaded a new instance of jira core. Can i just change the licensing somehow? Otherwise I have 30 days free until i have to pay.

Hi Andrew,

Your existing license from the previous install can be used on the new installation.

There should be no issue using the old key when your going through the initial setup, and the following kb gives details on changing the key post setup, if you have already installed using a evaluation key:

I have reloaded the jira software loaded now under windows 10 pro. My problem is that the username and password i recall is not being recognized. What might be the best course of action here? I clicked on, cant access account link but I am not getting a link to reset my account.
