How to pass a selected ticket number to view it's details in a different dashboard?

Is there a solution where I select an Epic number in one board and pass it as a input parameter to another dashboard where there are gadgets built based on the Epic number passed to it?

It sounds like you are looking for a drilldown feature or a way to have one dashboard pass a variable to another dashboard.  There is not currently a way to do that in the current delivered product.  I would suggest looking at some of the apps in the marketplace that provide better reporting / drill down options like easyBI.
