Hello Atlassian Community,

I just realised that I installed Jira Work Management in my company.

It's not at all suitable because I manage technical teams, I end up with spaces rather than projects, I don't have the Backlog, Versions, Epics, Sprints menus. I can't find the ‘target version’ field on the tickets... etc.

Would anyone be kind enough to help me? The online help tells me to create a project, but as a space administrator, I can only create spaces.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Pierre,

Unfortunately, you have been caught in the middle of several name changes within the Jira world. Projects are now called Spaces - across the board.

Jira Work Management spaces are simply Jira Business spaces now. And then there is Jira Software spaces - which is what it sound like you want.

And both of those spaces can come in the Team-managed and Company-managed variety.

What you most likely want is a Company-managed Jira Software space. But you cannot convert an existing space into a different type. You will need to create the new space and the bulk Move any existing work items you want to keep to the new space.

Many thanks John

I understand that my issue is not having JWM instead of JS (as they have been merged together)
but my issue is that I have team managed space instead of company managed space.

Am I right ?

If I'm right, I now have to create a company managed something and then bulk move everything ... right ?

Well, JWM and JS have not been merged together. They are still separate project/space types. But as always are very close to one another.

And yes, your biggest problem is probably that it is a Team-managed space and not Company-managed.

And, yes, that's what you need to do. However, there are a few potential gotchas in the bulk move. Have you created Custom fields or Releases in your TMP?

No, I didn't created customs fields (too much troubles with it in previous companies :))  ... also I didn't create releases neither ... it is a brand new space of 4 month old.

You should be okay then. Create everything you want in the new Company-managed project first - screens, boards, access to project roles, etc. Then do a practice bulk Move of a couple of issues (even create some test issues in the TMP and move them if you like) to make sure it looks like what you are expecting before doing the full move.

I'm going to manage to do this bulk migration.
I wish you a wonderful festive season.

Take care
