How to migrate from Active Directory login to local Jira Internal Directory login

I need to remove the Active Directory login to our hosted Jira server and use the local Jira Internal Directory login instead. Is there a graceful way to accomplish this which will maintain my current set of users (~50) and all the issues and permissions associated with them?

You should be able to use the migrate users from one directory another functionality in this case, have a look at Migrating users between user directories
