We are repatriating a project from a contractor into our own JIRA instance,

- Are there any obvious issues with doing this?

- Is it easy?

Someone mentioned problems when the JIRA versions do not match. Any tips?

Thanks!

The off-the-shelf transfer in Jira is "export everything to XML from the source Jira, then import only the project you need from it on the target Jira"

The two gotchas here:

1. The import ONLY imports issues. None of the project configuration will come across - fields, screens, workflows etc, they all need to be defined in the target Jira before the import

2. The Jira versions must be the same (at least down to the mid-level - 5.1.6 -> 5.1.8 might work fine, but 5.1.x -> 5.2.x will tell you it's incompatible)
