How to migrate Issues from IBM EWM to Jira without breaking the relationship (parent, child ...)?

Nitu Kumari November 4, 2022

Hello Community,

My organization has been using IBM EWM since past couple years and finally decided to migrate to Jira software. As the team grew big, we have huge amount of data to migrate. I am looking for some ideas to migrate issue without breaking the relationship (Parent, Child, Related, depends on .....) using CSV file. How can i do that?

In Addition:

Is there any plugins available for IBM to Jira migration?

Hi @Nitu Kumari !

  1. parent - child (using Tasks and Sub-tasks issue types): yes, this is possible using CSV import, you just need to have some unique ids for each issue, see here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/import-data-from-a-csv-file/
  2. Related, depends on (using issue links): it should be very similar, see here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-import-issue-links-from-a-csv-file-in-jira-740262715.html

Jira doesn’t support third-party importers, so I believe the only possibility is to import data from CSV file (or JSON, but usually it is easier to create CSV file instead of JSON).
