How to make dynamic dashboard?

Mathis LE ROUX May 26, 2023

Hi all,

I wanted to know if I can make a dynamic dashboard. I mean, I would like to have only one graph where I can show my version to view but without going on the edit page. I want to know if a gadget exists where I can define the version to display.

Thanks

Hi Mathis - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

What do you mean by version? Version of what? Also, what exactly would you like to see?

Hi John, Thanks!

Yes sorry, I wasn't specific enough.

By version I mean like a filter. We don't really use version as a number of release. It is more like we have different equipment and we use the Affects version parameter to give the information about how the equipment is used.

Also, I would like to see one pie Chart. On this pie chart you have the percentage of the issues on each equipment. What I would like to do is to put a filter (not by editing it manually), to show the percentage of the issues of each equipment but for each affect version.
To summarize it's like:
     - First I arrive I see a pie chart with for example 90% of the issues in equipment A, 5% on equipment B and 5% on equipment C.
     - Second, I want to see what are the different percentage of each Affect version in equipment. -I know that I can make it manually by editing the gadget, but I would like to have a gadget where you can do it even for a viewer.

I hope I've been more precise this time.

Yes, that was helpful. But I will say that's not a good use of the Fix Version field. That is intended for versions related to software releases. You would be better to create a custom field of single list type.

However, try this and see if it works with what you have right now. Add a Pie Chart gadget to the dashboard. Base it on the project that you are using. (If it is more than one project, just do one for now to see if it works).

Then Fix for Versions (all) for the Statistic Type field. Try that and see how it looks.

Yes it works, I've already tried it thank you.

But as I said I've got different Fix Version, it means that if I wan to show different Fix Versions, I have two solutions.

First one, I can add as many Pie Chart as needed. Whereas, I don't want to do this because it will make me have a lot of Charts.

Second one, I can edit the Charts to change the version I want to see. But, the problem is that the people who will look at chart will not have the right to edit it.

As I explained, these two solutions are not good for me.

That's why I'm looking for a gadget that is editable without going in the edit menu just with the normal view.

I've heard about a filter on the market place named "Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards". I wanted to know if we can make something like the "Quick filter" for "Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards".

Thanks.

Thanks for the further explanation. Yes, in order to edit values or change the filter on the fly like that you would need an add on like Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards. I have used that app before and it is a very good app, and I think it will do what you want it to do.

Hi @Mathis LE ROUX,

I am Marlene, product manager of Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.

It is indeed possible to filter per version with our app, using the Quick Controller gadget.

You can check out our app without installation on our demo dashboards. I've added a "fix version" dropdown for you, so you can test your use case. It is possible to add many more filters to the controller.

If you want to learn more, feel free to reach out to our support.

To get this on the Dashboard I believe the best option for you is the Jira" RoadMap Gadget" one that shows versions that are due for release within a specified period of time.

Thanks, I'll checks on this.
