How to link "split from' when using csv import in jira

shuo wang September 20, 2021

Hi,

I have a problem when I am trying to import tasks using csv in jira, the issue type is technical story, and I only have link"issue split" in the mapping field, and this comes to the result that this task is split to another task. However, I want this technical story to be split from a task that I want. How can I solve this problem?

You can establish custom issue linking rules for the import process.

Hi @shuo wang and welcome to the community!

Have you setup properly all your issue linking types? Go to the cog > issues > issue linking

Setup the inward and outward description and try again to import your csv with a column that you state e.g. Outward issue link (Relates).

Then start your import and map that column to your desirable link issue:

This is great. Unfortunately it doesn't resolve the issue. The issue here is that we want the links that we import to be classified as "Split from" - not "Split to". Using the Outward issue link (Issue Split) only results in that issue splitting to another issue rather than from.
