How to include work items but not sprints in a multi-space or multi-project Scrum board

Is there a way to create a Scrum board in one Jira space that includes work items but not sprints from other Jira spaces?

For example, let's say I have three projects: ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA.

ALPHA and BETA already have sprints: A1, A2, ..., B1, B2, ...

In GAMMA, I want to create a Scrum board that pulls in work items across all three projects, using the saved filter below.

project IN (ALPHA, BETA, GAMMA)

The problem is that in addition to seeing ALPHA and BETA work items, I'm also seeing sprints A1, A2, ..., B1, B2, ... in the Backlog tab of the GAMMA board. ❌

I don't want to see these sprints, as I want to create and manage sprints in GAMMA separate from the other two spaces.

How can cross-space work items be included on a Scrum board without also including sprints from those other spaces?

Hi Chang,

Jira scrum boards include all sprints of projects that are covered under a filter automatically, although it is not possible to include all work items of projects without their sprint being included on the filter as well.

Recommended Solution:
  • Utilize Kanban boards for cross-project tracking. They do not have sprints, so only issues are visible.
  • If you have to use a Scrum board, see to it that the boards contain only relevant sprint information related to the respective project.
This is the recommended practice and ensures that there is no cross-sprint across projects.
