I have created a excel sheet with 3 test cases as of now, added different test case id to each test case. Each test case has 4-5 steps. After mapping, and importing, seeing that all the steps are part of one test case only. How do I do mapping ? I have linked test case id to external issue id, tried linking it to external id also. Still no progress.
I'm using Zephyr importer.
Please help. I'm stuck.
Hey Keerthy, this smells more like a mapping issue than something wrong with your sheet.
From what I've seen with this importer before, every step row that belongs to the same test case has to have the exact same external id repeated on each row, not just filled in once at the top. If it's blank or different on some of the step rows, the importer just treats each row as its own separate test case instead of grouping them under one.
Also worth double checking the column mapping screen when you're importing, make sure the column with your step text is actually mapped to the Step field type and not sitting as a plain text or summary field. If that mapping's off it'll spit out one test case per row no matter what the id says.
I haven't personally tried linking external id to an external issue like you did, so can't really speak to that part, but the two things above are usually the culprits people run into with this. Might be worth testing with just one test case and its steps first before you run the whole import again, easier to spot where it's going wrong.
Hope that gets you unstuck!
