How to hide/display certain activities in an issue activity list?

From what I can tell, a number of events in JIRA trigger a message like "Mrs. X did something to ISSUE-1" in the activity stream below the issue description. However, I do not really understand which actions trigger which message.

In the problem at hand, I do not want issue assignments being displayed in the activity stream. One reason is that they kind of clutter the list (our issues are quite mobile), second reason is that on an assignment the list reports "Mrs. X opens ISSUE-1", which is simply not the case since the issue was open (as a status) all the time. A description like "Mrs. X assigned ISSUE-1 to Mr. Y" would be much more accurate.

Is there a way to configure (or tweak) which activity messages are displayed and how they are displayed? I already tried to switch to firing only Generic Events on an assignment transitions, but this does not seem to have any influence on the activity list.

Many thanks in advance.

You will have to raise a feature request for the Activity Stream Plugin to subscribe to events optionally! Any changes in wordings will also be a change to the plugin.
