I have un custom field with business information that Scrum team doesn't have to see.

I've created 2 different roles for make the difference between my users from business and the other from the Scrum team.

But now, how can I set my custom field to be "Hidden" from the View Screen according to the connected user's role?

Hi Cecile - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

This is not possible with Jira Cloud - there is no field level security or hiding fields depending on another factor such as who the user is or the value of another field.

The closest thing might be to put the fields in a different tab on the screen. That won't completely hide it from them, but they won't have to see the fields if they don't want to.

Hi @Cécile BLANCHI,

John's answer above is still true, there's no way to get field-level security out of the box in Jira Cloud.

If you're open to using a Marketplace app, we recently released an app that solves this, called Protected Custom Fields (it's free). Very quick to set up your hidden field:

  1. Put the business information in a protected field (add the new protected field via Settings cog > Work items > Fields > Create new field, then pick a Protected Custom Fields type).
  2. Give access to the existing Jira group that includes your business users.
  3. Leave the Scrum team outside that group.

The Scrum team can still work on the item, but the protected value stays hidden. If they click on it, they'll see it's not accessible to them, like in the screenshot below. There's no way for them to reveal it.

Hope this is useful for you, or anyone else landing on this problem! 🙌
