John's answer above is still true, there's no way to get field-level security out of the box in Jira Cloud.
If you're open to using a Marketplace app, we recently released an app that solves this, called Protected Custom Fields (it's free). Very quick to set up your hidden field:
- Put the business information in a protected field (add the new protected field via Settings cog > Work items > Fields > Create new field, then pick a Protected Custom Fields type).
- Give access to the existing Jira group that includes your business users.
- Leave the Scrum team outside that group.
The Scrum team can still work on the item, but the protected value stays hidden. If they click on it, they'll see it's not accessible to them, like in the screenshot below. There's no way for them to reveal it.
