Since Jira 8.6 the "Users and Roles" interface changed so that users/project roles are now listed by user instead of by role. You can no longer see a list of users belonging to each role.
If a user is in multiple roles you see "Multiple" displayed next to them and have to scroll through ALL roles inside the menu dropdown to find which ones each users is a member of.
Am I missing something obvious here? How can I get a list of all members of a particular project role within a project. Which seems like a basic requirement.
We have up to 10 roles in a project, up to 40 individual users across these, and over 50 roles across the Jira instance.
Managing role membership has now become unmanageable. Help!
Hi ITS Support,
you are right - presentation of that data has been changed. There is no switch or something a turn it back like it was.
Not the answer (and not an recommended way) but the last resort when you need to gather those data might be several database queries.
Cheers,
Daniel
@ITS Support - I completely agree. The change - at least as far as role membership goes - has made it harder to manage large teams rather than easier. I got so frustrated trying to find the list of role members I wanted to toss my computer out the window before discovering - it's not that I can't find it... it's that it's GONE. Seems like a basic UX function to be able to see a list of role members all in one place. It's a pretty ridiculous - not to mention frustrating - change.

I'm also finding the change somewhat annoying. ITS Support didn't mention the corresponding JAC ticket: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-71525. I've voted but apparently others aren't as annoyed as we. Any other related tickets?
