Hi,

I have a customfield in the jira task, but some value are missing.

How do I find where this value come from, is it reference some table ? or has it been populated manually.

I have admin access to the Jira (v7.3.1).

Thank you

If a task has a value in a field, then one of your users has chosen to put it there.

There are three slightly different things to look at:

  • A user can put data on an issue when it is created.  To find out who did this, look at the "reporter" field, as that is usually the person who created it.
  • It is possible for people to raise issues and name a different reporter - if that is the case, then look at the "creator" in the issue history
  • After the creation of an issue, ALL changes to fields are logged in the history.  So to see where a field value came from, read that, it will give you the user id for the person who did it.
