How to filter by custom labels on a next-gen board

Hello everyone, I am using a next-gen Kanban Jira board and have found some use in the custom labels Jira allows you to create for different issues. These custom labels show on the tickets issues themselves, but for some reason they do not show up across the top of the board like normal labels do, which would allow the board to be filtered by them. For example, I would like the default labels in the attached screenshot over my board, to instead be custom labels x and y that I created. Link: https://imgur.com/AEKRToc

Hi @Andrew Rover  -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Are you referring to the quick filters feature for a board?  If so, that feature has not been added to Next-Gen projects yet.  You can review the suggestion to add the filters and vote for it.
