How to enbale Epic-Tab (vertical aligned) on the left side of a Kanban Board

In the Backlog of my Scrum Boards I have a vertical aligned Epic-Tab on the left side:

How can I enable this on my Kanban Board?
Regarding to this guide it should be possible.

Further I can't create an Epic via the backlog:

But I am able to create an Epic via the button "create" in the top navigation.

You need to be a board administrator. Then you can go to you board configuration and toggle a switch to enable the Epics panel. It’s a global setting that affects every user of the board.
