How to disable JIRA work item sidebar while clicking on a ticket?

Gunasekar_Kamaladoss

I used to click on a ticket and it normally opens in full screen and nowadays it opens a right sidebar named as "JIRA work item" which is literally tough to go through ticket content.

I want to disable this option. Can you please help on this at the earliest?

Hi @Gunasekar_Kamaladoss From where do you click the work item? Which view? A list, a board, a plan, ...?

Hola Gunasekar,

@Arkadiusz Wroblewski is right, this is Jira’s newer preview panel behavior. At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be a personal or site-level setting that turns it off and restores the old full-screen behavior for every click.

You can still open the work item in full screen by selecting the full-screen icon in the upper-right corner of the preview panel. Atlassian describes that here.

Dave’s question is also relevant because the exact behavior can depend on where you open the work item, such as a list, search results, board, or plan. In the newer global preview experience, Jira intentionally opens certain links in the side panel so you can keep your current page visible.

Thanks,

James
