How to create a filter that includes tickets from a Project and from an Epic

We are trying to create a board with a filter that includes tickets from a Project and tickets from an Epic. 

When I try to change the logic to "OR" from "And" the JQL does not work.

Hi @Sarah Subrizi , welcome to the Community!

I want to make sure I understand the need here correctly, you are looking to have a filter return all issues that meet ANY of the following conditions:

1. Issue is part of a single project
2. Issue is a child of a single Epic issue

Could you share the exact JQL query you have and correct my understanding if I've gotten it wrong? Swapping from "AND" to "OR" is likely the correct path, so I'm curious what might be going wrong.
