How to create a deep link to an application

I'm trying to add links inside a ticket that is not web-based. But Jira doesn't recognize the link as it's not following the traditional formating. The link should jump the user to another windows application.

Application://Server/Folder/filename.psd

Jira only recognises the protocols that have been globally registered, and that almost certainly doesn't include your application.

The best you can do is embed the link as plain text and then tell your browser to open the application you use.
