How to create a column in the filter with surname/last name

Christian Radwanski April 3, 2023

Hi all, i have checked the Atlassian JQL documentation and i cannot find a way to create a column inside a custom filter that display only the last name of the user (or first name).

You can only see the full name (e.g. assignee) in one column, some software does not accept such names and we would like to automate the jira export to other software which works with first name and last name.

Is there any way to do this via JQL, e.g. add another column in filter/display only first name?.

Hi @Christian Radwanski  Welcome to Atlassian Community!

JIRA filter column display fields data only. JIRA stores data in field and column are fields and showing data stored in that field w.r.t issue key.

If you want to capture First name only of the assignee or reporter, you can do some Automation and store that data in a Custom Field, give field name like "First name".

Or you can add a custom field, where the user enters first name.

Or you can export JIRA data into Excel or csv and split Full Name into First and Last name column.

Thanks,

Hi @Christian Radwanski , there is not a way of using JQL for this unless you created a unique field for surname. The the trick would be extracting the surname from each issue's assignee field and copying into the new field. Unsure if there are any Marketplace options.
