How to copy only board settings without issues

At the moment I'm using FREE plan.

I wanted to copy a board and I went to View all --> click on three dots of Board (board A) I want to copy --> Copy (and I got board B).

I've got 2 connected boards with same issues, and I don't need that.

I need to copy only settings of A board (swimlanes, etc) and use B board as separate board.

Is that possible or I need to create new project? (If I need to copy the project, please give me instructions on how to do that).

Thanks

Hi @Lucia Balen,

When you copy a board, you also copy its settings. And one of those settings is the filter that fetches the issues of your original board. You will be able to verify that by going to Board Settings, where - on the General tab you will find the board filter:

Screenshot 2021-10-12 at 18.01.09.pngIt is by replacing the board filter with a different filter (one that fetches issues from a different project or projects) that you will be able to view different data on your board.

A few caveats maybe:

  • A board in itself does not have any use in Jira. It is always tied to a project or a filter that fetches issues from multiple projects;
  • When you update a board filter and fetch issues from a different project, you will need to check if all statuses of the new issues are mapped to columns of your board (you can do so under "columns", the tab below General in the above screenshot.

Hope this helps!
