How to connect an external app to an internal only jira.

Our jira instance is internal only but I am interested in using an external app, Tableau Connector for Jira. Has anyone been able to accomplish this and if so, how? What steps need to be done to sync with an internal only instance of jira?

There's lots of different ways an application can be 'internal only' so this is really a question for your internal technology team.

For example, if your internal JIRA server cannot talk to things outside of your corporate network, you'd need to either be inside that network yourself (and running Tableau Desktop) OR have your Network team set up a special rule to allow JIRA to connect to the specific server(s) that Tableau is running on.
