How to change team managed business to team managed software for one of the space that I have
Hello @Noble Glami
That is not possible.
When a project/space has been created in Jira you cannot later change its type from Business to Software.
You will need to create a new Software project.
You can then move the issues from the Business space to the Software space.
However, since these are Team Managed spaces, and such spaces can have custom, space specific fields, you may lose data as you move the issues.
But let us step back and ask what problem are you trying to solve by changing the type of the space?
Maybe there is an alternate solution that does not require you to change the space type.
Hello @Noble Glami ,
Good day! Welcome to Atlassian community :)
Unfortunately, there is no direct method to convert a "Team-managed business" project to a "Team-managed software" project. We have few feature requests for the same
As a workaround:
Use Bulk move feature:
Create a New Team-managed Software Project:
Navigate to Spaces -> View all spaces in the side navigation and select Create space.
Choose the Team-managed option and select a Software template.
Enter a name for your new project and select Create.
Prepare for Data Migration:
Ensure you have the necessary permissions to perform bulk changes. You may need to request the Make bulk changes global permission from your Jira admin.
Bulk Move Issues:
Go to the Filters menu and select All work items.
Use the space filter to select your current "CareerMap" project.
In the top-right corner, select More actions > Bulk change all.
Follow the Bulk Operation wizard:
Select the issues you want to migrate and click Next.
Choose Move work items and click Next.
On the Select Projects and Work Types screen, select your new software project as the destination.
Map the statuses from your old project to the new one.
Confirm the operation on the final screen.
Custom Fields and Configurations: You may need to manually recreate any custom fields or configurations in the new project, as these do not automatically transfer.
Data Integrity: Ensure that all necessary data, such as attachments and comments, are included in the migration.
Backup: It is advisable to create a backup of your data before starting the migration process to prevent any data loss.
Additionally, it’s a good practise to try a test move by bulk moving few work items and then you can bulk move rest of them.
