How to change issue colour based on POD

Hi,
I am working a scaled agile environment. I need to change the colour of the issue, so I can easily denote PODS in the backlog view. I know I can use the issues view to search, but we are building a backlog at this point, so I need to build fresh stories and rank them such that they do not interfere with the Product Owner's ranking of other PODS' work.
I can separate my stories to a POD view via boards, but then the EPICs disappear, since they do not belong to any specific POD.
Any suggestion to delineate issues by POD are most appreciated.
