How to call JIRA having cucumber test definition from JAVA code ?

My requirement is :

I have scenario defined in JIRA for cucumber tests in XRAY.

Now I have my implementation(step file) written in project of Java tech. How can I call JIRA through REST api and execute tests ? Is it even possible ?
