How to automatically set start date of a parent based on the subtask start date?

Or Pershikov February 28, 2023

I tried to add a rule that is the same as with the due date field and it failed.

Please help me with all the steps (including screenshots) of the rule process

Hi @Or Pershikov and welcome to the community!

We'll need a bit more understanding on this:

  • What level of hierarchy are you talking about?
    • Sub-Task updating its parent
    • Story/Task/Bug updating its Epic
  • Frequency of the rule
    • One time when the first child start date is set
      • If the first child issue's start has changed, does the parent sync up to the new start date?
    • Updated any time a child issue start date has been set/updated

the level is subtask updating its parent (story/task)
Updated any time a child issue start date has been set/updated

thankyou

Ok - You'll want something like this:

  • TRIGGER: Field Value Changed (Start Date)
  • CONDITION: Issue Type = Sub-Task
  • BRANCH (Parent)
    • Edit Issue (Start)
      • Copy from Trigger Issue
