How to automatically change the status of an issue on the basis of time after issue's creation

I want some issues to be automatically closed if it has been in the resolved status for say more than a week.

How can it be achieved, is there any plugin which can be used for such a requirement.

I figured we can write JIRA Jelly scripts for getting such results, but also came across that it should be used sparingly unless its too urgent.

Please help. thanks in advance.

Jelly goes away in JIRA 6.4, so it's not a case of "sparingly", it's more "you can't use jelly any more"

The automation plugin is one option, and, of course, the Script Runner add-on can be used to create a regular "run filter and transition things on it" service.
